Kee Teller
PRETTY ROCK, N.M. — Funeral services for Kee K. Teller, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at the Rehoboth Christian Reform Church. The Rev. Rob Byken will officiate. Burial will be at Gallup City Cemetery.
Teller died Oct. 3, 2011, in Pretty Rock. He was born March 12, 1924, in Fort Defiance into the Coyote Pass People Clan born for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.
Teller served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946 during World War II in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns, service unit HqSq 2nd CCRCGp. He was awarded with the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct and Victory Medal. He was also a POW survivor and vice president of Tsayatoh Veteran Committee. After he returned to the reservation he worked as a carpenter for Bertinetti Construction. Teller was also a well-known medicine and Native American Church roadman, traveling across New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Nevada and Texas. He enjoyed taking care of and riding his horses, going to basketball games, family gatherings, traveling and telling stories.
Survivors include his wife Mary Teller, of Pretty Rock; sons Jimmy Teller and James Teller, of Churchrock; daughters Linda Bitsuie and Christine Teller, of Fort Wingate, Elsie Teller, of Brimhall, Annie Teller and Aggie Teller, of Albuquerque, and Ella Armstrong, of Chicago, Ill.; brother Johnny Teller Jr., of Tuba City, Ariz.; sisters Mary Peshlakai, Susie Nez, Mary Ella Shirley, Ruth Gee, all of Fort Defiance; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Elsie Teller; his first wife Marie Teller; brother Lawrence Teller and son Nelson Teller.
A reception will follow at Rehoboth Fellowship Hall.
Jasper Benally
ROUGH ROCK — Funeral Services for Jasper Danny Benally, 40, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct, 7, 2011, at the Rough Rock Friends Mission Church. Burial will be in Rough Rock Community Cemetery.
Benally died Oct. 2, 2011, in Rough Rock. He was born Nov 8, 1971, in Keams Canyon, Ariz., into the Deer Springs People Clan for the People That Walk Around Clan.
Benally graduated from Thompas High School. He worked as a construction worker, welder, auto mechanic and liked to play guitar.
Survivors include his wife Lisa Ann Lewis Benally; sons Myron Lewis Benally and Tyson Davis Lewis; daughters Jastine Danise Benally, Charelle Emily Benally and Tashina Lewis; parents Dolhy And Freddie Benally; brothers Lester Benally; sisters Larina Benally and Marisa Benally; grandmother Merla John and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Walter Benally and Brian Nelson and grandfather Tom John.
Pallbearers will be Lester Benally, Philbert James, Delbert Nelson and Davidson Lee.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Rough Rock Chapter after services.
Carmen Sandoval
GALLUP — Funeral services for Carmen Sandoval, 76, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Scared Heart Cathedral. The Very Rev. Lawrence J. O’Keefe will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rollie Mortuary on Oct. 6, 2011. A rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
Sandoval died Oct. 3, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Willard.
Sandoval graduated from Cathedral High School. She was a very dedicated wife that enjoyed the time she spent with her family. Sandoval enjoyed supporting Goodwill, attending Adoration at Casa Reyna, watching Spanish novellas, visiting the casino, and dancing and singing her special song to the babies in the family. She was also a very generous person and welcomed everyone into her home for coffee Saturday mornings.
Survivors include her son Lloyd Sandoval; daughters Irene Dedrick and Virgina Lozano; brothers Tommy Sanchez and Frank Sanchez, of Gallup, and Martin Sanchez, of San Diego; sisters Annie Salcido, Frances Guillen, of Gallup, Rosie Cuellar, of Los Angeles, Calif., Isabell Sandoval and Esther Martinez, of Gallup; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dolores Sandoval; parents Jesus and Lola Sandoval and brothers Joe Sanchez and Tony Sanchez.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dedrick, Andrew Chavez, Chris Sanchez, Mark Soliz, Lloyd Sandoval Jr. and Jesse Reyna.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Family Center in Gallup.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Anthony Hicks Jr.
PHOENIX — Funeral services for Anthony G. Hicks Jr., 22, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Sanders Living Water Church. The Rev. Wayne Cox and Arnold Goodluck will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot.
Hicks died Oct. 1, 2011, in Phoenix. He was born Feb. 2, 1989, in Phoenix.
Survivors include his parents Anthony Hicks Sr. and Sharon Shirley, both of Phoenix; brothers Otel Hicks, Demetrius Hicks, Julius Hicks, Daniel Nunez, Steven Nunez and Timothy Claiborne; sisters Jasmine Hicks, and CecéLie Hernandez and grandparents Helen Shirley and Earl and Ruth Hicks, of El Paso, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Tom Shirley Sr., grandmother Georgianna Moss and great-grandparents George Moss and Mary Aeetso Moss.
Pallbearers will be Trie Hicks, Otel Hicks, Timothy Begay Jr., “Chaca,” Anthony Freeman and Timothy Claiborne.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House following the services.
Antonio Lovato Jr.
GALLUP — Services for Antonio Lovato Jr., 82, will be announced at a later date.
Lovato died Oct. 4, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Dec. 2, 1928, in McGaffey.
